Black Knights Top William Monroe, Continue Their Winning Ways

October 6, 2009

Charlottesville entered Friday's tilt with William Monroe riding a two-game win streak. With a third win, the Black Knights would move above .500 for the first time this season.

The Black Knights would come out of the tunnel fired up, but it was the Dragons of William Monroe who would strike first with a 30-yard field goal.

Still in the first quarter, Charlottesville running back Xavier Porter took the handoff and hit the near sideline with a head of steam. Porter would get some nice blocks and drag the last William Monroe defender into the endzone for a Black Knight touchdown, 7-3 Charlottesville.

Charlottesville would go on top 14-3 on a Raymond Parker touchdown run to end the first quarter scoring, and the Black Knights would take a 20-3 lead into the half and never look back. Charlottesville would extend their win stream to three games with a 34-17 win over William Monroe.

The Dragons (0-5) will look to get their first win of the year when they travel to Fluvanna on October 9, while Charlottesville will try to extend their win streak to four games when the host undefeated Western Albemarle Friday night, October 9. That game between Charlottesville and Western Albemarle will be the Friday Night Endzone Game of the Week, and kickoff is set for 7:30pm at CHS.
