Charlottesville was the place to be Saturday as nine teams from around the area gathered to talk about the upcoming season at the first Prep Football Media Day.

The event was organized by Scrimmage Play, hosted by Downtown Athletic and featured coaches and players giving their thoughts on the 2013 season.

Four teams from the Jefferson District (Albemarle, Charlottesville, Monticello and Western Albemarle) four private schools (Blue Ridge, Covenant, Fork Union and Woodberry Forest) and the James River District's Buckingham County were in attendance.

All the players agreed, the start of each new season is a special feeling.

"When it comes to football season it's just that buzz in the air, that smell in the air, it's time to go to work again. So there is that buzz in the air," Monticello senior T.J. Tillery said.

"It's hard to put into words unless you've been in it or are going through it," Fork Union lineman Mark Uptegraff added. "It's a great feeling and we're just waiting to see how much all this hard work is going to pay off."

"Everybody just wants to play a game. Practice is something you go through the motions but we take practice seriously too but a lot of us are just happy," Albemarle's Dominique Talley explained. "We just want to play games. We want to hit someone that's not ourselves all the time."

The season kicks off Friday when Covenant hosts Atlantic Shores.
