FNE: High School Football Week 1

August 26, 2011

Nine local teams kicked off the high school football season Friday night, while two first-year head coaches made their debuts.

It took overtime to decide our Friday Night Endzone 'Game of the Night' between rivals Western and Albemarle. Tied at 14, the Patriots struck first in OT when the Warriors match the touchdown and converted a two-point conversion to win the game, 22-21.

Neither Charlottesville or Covenant could earn Week 1 wins for new head coaches Eric Sherry and Dave Rocco. Both look for redemption in their home openers next Friday night.
