Patriots' Talley to Become a Lobo Next Season

Albemarle High School senior Dominique Talley is headed across the country to continue his football career next season.

Talley said Monday night that he'll attend Monterey Peninsula College, a junior college in Monterey, California. Talley listed Ferrum, Bluefield, Shepherd, Averett, and Fairmont State as schools he had been considereing.

The Lobos went 4-6 in 2013.

In 2013, Talley helped AHS finish the regular season 6-4, and snap the program's 10-year playoff drought. The running back was an All-Jefferson District first-team selection after rushing for 862 yards and eight touchdowns on 185 carries, and adding 11 catches for 173 receiving yards.

Those final statistics include a 149-yard rushing performance and the go-ahead touchdown in the Patriots' upset of previously unbeaten Monticello, and a 269-yard, four-touchdown performance in Albemarle's last-second loss at home to Western Albemarle.

In February, Talley was a member of the World Team in the inaugural Texas vs. The World Football Classic, a recruiting showcase game in Duncanville, Texas.
