Saturday's 28-0 win over previously undefeated Monticello wasn't quite enough to get Western Albemarle into the latest Associated Press Group AA statewide top 10.

The Warriors, who improved to 5-0 with the win, are the top team 'Also Receiving Votes' in the latest poll, released on Monday. Western Albemarle and Loudoun County each received six points, three behind tenth-ranked Warren County. Despite Saturday's loss, Monticello received two points this week.

Western Albemarle hosts Powhatan, the defending Jefferson District champion, on Friday night.

Buckingham County, the only local team to crack an AP poll this season, continues to climb the Group A rankings. The 5-0 Knights moved up another spot to No. 5 in that poll this week.

Buckingham hosts Randolph-Henry on Friday.
