Woodberry's Randolph at All-American Bowl

Woodberry Forest senior Doug Randolph could be joining the reigning national champions when he arrives to play football at Notre Dame next summer.

Randolph, a four-star college prospect at outside linebacker, committed to the Fighting Irish back in September, then watched Notre Dame finish the regular season ranked No. 1 in the BCS standings. The Irish face No. 2 Alabama for the BCS title next Monday.

"I think it's going to be pretty crazy," Randolph said of next week's national title game. "I think it's going to be really crazy."

Before watching that game, Randolph will play in Saturday's U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The All-American Bowl features 90 of the top high school recruits in the country -- including Randolph, who picked Notre Dame over schools like Stanford, Tennessee, and Virginia.

U.S. Army All-American Bowl alums include college standouts like Terrelle Pryor, DeSean Jackson, and Vince Young, and current Clemson quarterback Tahj Boyd.

"It's a huge honor to be chosen to come to play here," Randolph said. "I was always hopeful for it. I wouldn't say surprised, because I feel I've done pretty well. I'm just really honored to be chosen here."

Randolph is regarded as a four-star linebacker recruit by Rivals.com, ESPN.com, and 247Sports.com. He says he's making the most of his opportunity to practice alongside some of the country's best classmates.

"I play pretty well coming after the quarterback, in rushing-type situations. And picking up backs out of the backfield," Randolph said. "I've been working on dropping back into coverage more, because I'm not accustomed to doing that."
