The William Monroe boys fell to George Mason, 70-48, in a one-game playoff for the regular season Bull Run title. Monroe beat Mason on Feb. 4, 54-46, to force the playoff.
With the win the Mustangs secured the top seed in the Bull Run Tournament while Monroe will host Central as the No. 2 seed.
Also in Bull Run boys play, the Madison boys beat Manassas Park 71-57, to earn a shot at the winner of the Central-Monroe game.
Meanwhile in other boys action, Monticello went on the road and fell to George Wythe, 58-57, in the Mustangs' regular-season finale. Monticello was without eight players who were suspended for coming off the bench in a melee against Charlottesville earlier this week.
On the girls side, Madison County scored a 36-32 upset win over rival Clarke County in the Bull Run District quarterfinals. The fifth-seeded Mountaineers will face top seed George Mason next Wednesday in the semifinals.
