Fluvanna Senior YaYa Anderson has committed to play basketball at Radford University next season. He chose Radford over VCU, The College of Charleston and UNC-Asheville.

Both the Madison and Strasburg volleyball teams entered the contest undefeated in the Bull Run District. Strasburg handed Madison its first loss in the district.

The Madison County High School football team will look to make its third straight playoff appearance in 2011.

Six area high school teams are still alive in the postseason, and two will shoot for state titles this weekend.

The Madison County Mountaineers entered Friday's matchup with Page County as one of four remaining area schools still undefeated, and head coach Stuart Dean and co. hoped to get their fifth win Friday night.

In Friday's non-league game, the Madison County Mountaineers football team knocked off the host Luray Bulldogs, by a final score of 28-20.

Fluvanna got their season started off right last week, cruising to a 28-6 win over Prince Edward. Friday, the Flucos continued their opening road trip, as they traveled to Madison to face a Mountaineers team that fell just short of the state playoffs last season.

After narrowly missing the playoffs last season, Madison County football is looking to go over the top and compete for a state title this season.
