A bad case of the flu has swept through Buckingham County High School, forcing the Knights to cancel Monday's visit to Madison County in girls' basketball.

Both the William Monroe and Madison County girls basketball teams saw their seasons come to an end in Regional quarterfinal play Wednesday night. Monroe fell to Central Woodstock 45-41 and Madison lost 49-19 to East Rockingham.
The William Monroe boys fell to George Mason, 70-48, in a one-game playoff for the regular season Bull Run title. Monroe beat Mason a week ago, 54-46, to force the playoff.
The Monticello girls held on to beat Western Albemarle, 46-38, in a battle for second in the Jefferson District. The Charlottesville boys and Madison girls were also winners on the night.
Monticello boys hand Fluvanna their first district loss; Western forces a first-place tie with victory over Charlottesville.
William Monroe stayed in the thick of the Bull Run race with a 74-49 win over backyard rival Madison County and Western Albemarle throttled Louisa, 82-48, in Jefferson District play to keep pace with district-leading Fluvanna County.
