Blue Ridge Names New Head Coach

April 1, 2011

Blue Ridge School announced Friday that Orlando Patterson will be the next head football coach of the Barons.

Patterson was most recently an assistant coach at Bridgton Academy, a college preparatory school in Maine exclusively for postgraduate students.

Speaking on the hire, Blue Ridge School Director of Athletics Carl Frye said: "He's going to be a great role model for our boys, good character and reputation. A perfect fit for Blue Ridge."

Patterson, originally from Boston, MA, played collegiality as a linebacker for Division-III Hobart College in Geneva, NY. He attended Tabor Academy in Massachusetts for high school.

Patterson replaces Del Smith, who left BRS to accept the head coaching job at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, TN.
