Blue Ridge Outlasts Covenant 23-10

September 29, 2011

Blue Ridge hosted Covenant Thursday. Each team was looking to pick up win number two on the season.

In the first quarter, Blue Ridge's Jerod Williams picked off a Covenant pass and rumbled inside the Eagles five-yard-line. Mayn Francisco punched it in from there to put the Barons ahead, 7-0.

Blue Ridge's offense was on the move again but Covenant's John Meade stepped in front of a screen pass, picked it off and took it to the house for the tying score.

The two teams traded scoring opportunities from there but fumbles and interceptions prevented much scoring.

Blue Ridge pulled away in the second half to take the win, 23-10. The Barons moved to 2-2 on the year while Covenant dropped to 1-5.
