Sullivan: Cook "Okay" with UVa Commitment

Mike London spent Monday trying to keep his recruiting class in place following Sunday's dismissal of four assistant coaches.

One of the players London met with was Fork Union senior Malcolm Cook. The four-star senior originally committed to the Cavaliers last July.

"I think they're okay," Fork Union athletic director (and former football coach) Micky Sullivan said by phone Monday. "He's a little distraught. He and Coach Reid were close."

Defensive coordinator Jim Reid was one of the four assistants fired by the Cavaliers, along with running backs coach Mike Faragalli, tight ends coach Shawn Moore, and defensive line coach Jeff Hanson. Cook said his relationship with Reid was a big reason why he picked Virginia last summer.

Sullivan said Monday that while Cook is still committed to Virginia, he expects that the safety is "still going to look around a little bit." But Sullivan says he's been urging Cook to take his time before making any emotional decisions.

"Malcolm's a loyal kid, and he's hurt," Sullivan said. "I don't want him to do that. He's too good a kid." rates Cook as a four-star prospect, while Rivals gives the safety a three-star grade.
