STAB's Harrison Commits to UVa Baseball

Jalen Harrison's college days are still a few years down the road. But the sophomore at St. Anne's-Belfield already knows he won't have to travel very far down that road to continue his baseball career.

Chad Harrison, Jalen's father, said Sunday afternoon that his son has given a verbal commitment to play baseball at Virginia. Chad also said the scholarship offer includes the option to play football at UVa as well.

Harrison is in his first year at STAB, where he reclassified as a member of the recruiting class of 2016 after transferring from Fluvanna County. Baseball recruiting website Perfect Game ranks Harrison, an outfielder, as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Virginia for 2016, and the No. 21 overall prospect in the country.

Harrison just finished his first regular season with the football team at STAB, helping the Saints qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2010. Primarily a wide receiver, Harrison has put up 489 receiving yards, 203 rushing yards, and 10 total touchdowns this season.

He's also regarded as one of the top basketball prospects in Virginia in the recruiting class of 2016.
