Quintin Hunter Transferring to JMU

August 6, 2010

James Madison University football coach Mickey Matthews confirmed Friday that former University of Virginia quarterback/wide receiver Quintin Hunter is transferring to JMU.

Hunter takes his talents up i-81 to Harrisonburg where he can take the field immediately. A player does not have to sit out a year when transfering if he chooses to attend an FCS school. The former Orange County signal caller will play wide receiver for the Dukes and is expected at practice on Monday, though might not hit the field until Tuesday.

Virginia head coach Mike London announced in June that Hunter was among a group of five players who were leaving the team. Hunter was reportedly leaving the team because his heart was no longer with playing football. He saw time in nine games last season, tallying just one reception for 13 yards.

Hunter is a 2009 graduate of Orange County High School, where he played quarterback.
