The Cavalier baseball team is pleased with its 2010 season, but not satisfied. After a Super Regional loss the Oklahoma, Virginia is looking to rebuild after losing several key members of its team to the professional ranks. That rebuilding starts Friday, as the Cavs open up fall workouts.

This is the first time the squad is allowed to officially practice as a club in the fall. Brian O'Connor has several veterans returning and is bringing in a very talented freshmen class. Steven Proscia, Keith Werman and John Hicks return on the infield and Kenny Swab is back as well, after choosing to return for his senior season. John Barr returns as a veteran outfielder and will lead an outfield that loses three of the most talented Cavaliers from last year in Jarrett Parker, Phil Gosselin, and Dan Grovatt.

The pitching staff looks to be ready for the season. Danny Hultzen returns for his junior season after collecting ACC Pitcher of the Year honors in 2010. He'll anchor a rotation that will most likely include rising sophomore Branden Kline and junior Cody Winiarski. Tyler Wilson also returns for his senior season.

Virginia will open up its fall schedule on Friday and it will run through mid-October. Saturday's practice will begin at noon and is open to the public at Davenport Field, as are the practices on September 11 and September 18, both starting at 8:30 am. The Cavaliers will play an exhibition game on September 24 against the Ontario Blue Jays on September 24 with free admission to the public. The Orange-Blue World Series will end the fall session and begin on October 3 with a seven game series that will end on October 17. All games start at 6:00 pm.
