At the beginning of the season, Al Groh was going with a quarterback by committee system with both Jameel Sewell and Peter Lalich. Seven games into the season, Sewell has established himself as the man under center.
Lalich has not appeared in the last three games, while Sewell has shown his improvement. During the six game winning streak, the sophomore has thrown for seven touchdowns, while rushing for another one, and has only thrown three interceptions. All three picks have come in the last two contests.
Sewell and the Cavaliers will travel to Maryland on Saturday night to take on the Terrapins. Last season against the Terps, Sewell threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another score in Virginia's 28-26 loss. Kickoff at Byrd Stadium is set for 8:00.
