Virginia escaped Maryland with an 18-17 victory, marking its first win at Byrd Stadium since 1999, and extending its winning streak to seven.

The Cavaliers got key contributions from several players. On the offensive side of the ball, Mikell Simpson emerged as a go-to running back for Al Groh. The redshirt sophomore gained 272 all purpose yards, and scored Virginia's two touchdowns.

Chris Long proved that he is worthy of his award nominations, notching a season high ten tackles, including two sacks, one of which was a key third quarter safety.

Virginia will travel to North Carolina State on Saturday to face the Wolfpack. Kickoff is set for 4:30. Click on the above video link to view this week's Monday Evening Quarterback.
