Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman had successful minor surgery on his left wrist last night. The former Cavalier broke the hook of the hamate bone in his wrist during batting practice on Sunday. The hook was removed last night.
Zimmerman has had trouble with the wrist since 2005, but the discomfort was not severe, and did not keep him from playing in any games. In fact, he played in all 162 games for the Nationals this past season.
The former Cavalier star will be in a sling for about a week, and will begin rehabilitation almost immediately. He is expected to be 100 percent in four to six weeks.
