Chris Tierney scored two goals as the Cavalier Men's Soccer Team dominated NC State in the first round of the ACC Tournament, 4-1. With the win, Virginia improves its record to 11-6-2.
The Cavs jumped out of the gate fast, as Jonathan Villanueva scored for Virginia in the third minute of the game, and Tierney added his first goal of the match in the ninth minute. Matt Mitchell and Tierney each scored in the second half, as the Cavs jumped out to a 4-0 lead. NC State scored in the 80th minute on an own goal off of Virginia on a free kick.
The eighth seeded Cavaliers now move on to the ACC quarterfinals tomorrow afternoon. They'll face a tough test, as they face top seeded Boston College. The Eagles won the regular season match up between the two teams, 2-1, at Klockner Stadium. The quarterfinal match will begin at 2:30pm.
