Virginia Head Football Coach Al Groh was named the 2007 ACC Coach of the Year. Also today, Director of Athletics, Craig Littlepage announced that Groh's current contract will be extended one year to keep him as head coach through 2011. This is the second time that Groh has been named the ACC Coach of the Year. He previously won the award back in 2002.
Groh guided the Cavaliers to a 9-3 regular season mark, including a 6-2 league record. Groh is the forth UVa coach to win the leagues top coach award. George Welsh won the award a record four times ('83',84,'91,'95), while Bill Ellis won it in 1961 and George Blackburn in 1968.
