On September 21, 2006, Jameel Sewell made his first career start at quarterback for Virginia. The game did not end well for the Cavaliers, as Georgia Tech ran away with the contest, 24-7. Sewell threw for a touchdown and two interceptions. The game may have been a loss, but it played a big role in his development.
This season, Sewell has shown his maturity, leading Virginia to a 9-3 record, and still could earn his team a tenth. He has matured in his passing game, as well as his running game. The signal caller is third on the team in rushing, and has 15 total touchdowns.
