Monticello Defeats Poquoson; Heads to State Title Game

Takeem Hedgeman's three touchdowns plus a stifling Mustangs defense propelled Monticello to a 46-7 victory over Poquoson in the Division 3 State Semifinals.

The Mustangs advance to the State Title Game and will take on Richlands December 8, at noon, at Liberty University.

Monticello quarterback Michael Graham threw for 219 yards on 14-19 passing. Daniel Lieb had 168 receiving yards.

Monticello scored two quick touchdowns in the first quarter to take the early 13-0 lead. The Islanders responded with a touchdown, but the Mustangs countered with 20 points before halftime, and led 33-7 at intermission.

The Mustangs improve to 12-1 with the win.
