Shalita Brown scored a game high 19 points, and Shawnta Payne added 13, as the Charlottesville Girls Basketball Team knocked off William Monroe, 55-39, to open its Jefferson District schedule. The Dragons fall to 0-1 in the district.

After jumping out to a early nine point lead, the Knights held off a comeback attempt by William Monroe, which pulled to within four midway through the second quarter. Charlottesville opened up the lead to eleven near the end of the half, and held off the Dragons to earn their first win.

The Black Knights improve to 1-0 in the district, and move into an early first place tie with Western Albemarle.
