The Cavalier men's basketball team won it's final game before the holiday break. They defeated Elon 91-61. Sean Singletary scored a team high 20 points with 8 assists. Twelve of his points came in the first 11 minutes of the game.
Virginia lead 47-34 at halftime. Adrian Joseph scored all his 16 points after the break, including 10 straight points to open up the second half. Jerome Meyinsse had a career-high 12 points, and Jeff Jones scored 10 points for the Cavaliers, who improve to 9-2 on the season.
The Cavaliers shot 50 percent from the floor. They made only nine turnovers against Elon. It is a vast improvement from the 21 turnovers against Hampton and Longwood.
After the game, the Cavaliers said their success started in practice. Coach Dave Leitao said, “We did a much better overall job on both ends, playing together like we’re supposed to play, and the score reflected that. I’ve been preaching the last few weeks about getting better and about getting rid of the stuff that’s not good for our team and continue to grow, and the last couple of days in practice really showed it.”
