The Cavalier Women's Basketball Team returns home tomorrow, following a 69-50 win at Wake Forest to open ACC play. Tomorrow night marks a return to non-conference competition for Virginia, as the Wahoos welcome Rhode Island to John Paul Jones Arena.
The Cavaliers enter tomorrow's contest on a hot streak. Virginia has won five straight games, including seven of its last eight, and sits at 11-4 on the season. The Cavs only loss at home came to then-14th ranked George Washington, 70-68, in a contest that Virginia led for most of the way.
Rhode Island comes in as Virginia's second to last non-conference opponent. The Rams are 7-7, and are coming off a loss to Canisius their last time out. The Cavs traveled to Rhode Island last year, and came away with a victory.
Several Virginia players enter in the midst of hot streaks as well. Monica Wright is coming off one of the best performances by a Cavalier all season, as she posted 26 points against Wake Forest, while grabbing nine rebounds, dishing out nine assists, and collecting four steals. Aisha Mohammed has six double-doubles on the season, the latest also coming against the Demon Deacons. Senior point guard Sharnee Zoll continues to work her way up the all-time assists list.
Tip off for tomorrow's match up with Rhode Island is set for 7:00pm at John Paul Jones Arena.
