Sharnee Zoll scored her 1,000th career point, and finished with eleven points on the night, as Virginia topped Rhode Island in convincing fashion, 89-53. Zoll added six assists, two rebounds, and two steals, as well.
The Cavaliers used an incredible 27-0 first half run to put the game out of reach. Virginia went into halftime up 41-24, and continued playing well in the second. Monica Wright led all scorers with 23 points, her 14th consecutive game in double figures. In all, five Cavaliers found double figures in scoring. Aisha Mohammed netted her seventh double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and pulling down eleven boards.
The win is the Cavaliers' sixth in a row, as Virginia has now won eight of its last nine contests, and improves to 12-4 on the year. The Wahoos return to conference play on Sunday, as they welcome Virginia Tech to John Paul Jones Arena.
