CBS19 has learned that the University of Richmond will name University of Virginia assistant Mike London as its new football coach. The school has called press conference to introduce London Saturday at 2PM.
The 47-year-old Richmond graduate returns to his alma mater, after two previous stints as an assistant coach in the Spiders' program. He has served as Virginia's defensive coordinator for the past two seasons, and is regarded as the programs' top recruiter.
CBS19's sources tell us that, while four candidates were being considered for the job, London is the man that Richmond had its eye on. He interviewed for the job unsuccessfully back in 2004, losing out to Dave Clawson, the man whom he will replace.
Clawson left Richmond last Friday to become the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Tennessee.
