The Cavalier women's basketball team lost it's first ACC game Friday night to Maryland, 74-62. The Cavs lead by as many as ten during the first half. They went into the locker room at halftime with the one point lead. After the break, Maryland went on a 8-2 run, including three straight buckets from Crystal Langhorne. The Terps outscored the Hoos 41-28 in the second half and handed the Cavs their first loss in eight games. The Cavs fall to 2-1 in the ACC.
Sophomore Monica Wright lead all scorers with 22 points. Lyndra Littles and Sharnee Zoll were the only other players in double figures for Virginia. Aisha Mohammad had an off night, shooting 1-8 from the floor.
Maryland out-rebounded Virginia 43-28, and finished with 36 second-chance points.
The Cavaliers will travel to the sunshine state for a two game road trip. The play Miami on Monday and Florida State the following Saturday.
