Several local high school athletes will continue their careers at the college level, and signed national letters of intent today.
Monticello running back Takeem Hedgeman will play football at Norfolk State next season. Hedgeman set the Central Virginia rushing record, and set a state record with 51 touchdowns this past season. He selects Norfolk State over Rhode Island.
Mustangs lineman Jake Miles will also play football at the college level, signing on with I-AA Wofford. Miles served as team captain for Monticello this past season, and helped lead the Mustangs to a state title.
Monticello soccer player Caty Kirk Robins will take the field for St. Rose College in New York. She will complete her senior year with the Mustangs this spring.
Fork Union Military Academy had 37 athletes from its prep and postgraduate programs sign letters of intent today. This includes Marcus Dowtin, who will play running back at Georgia, and Austin Pazstor, who will head to Virginia to play lineman.
