Cavs Sweep Double-Header

The Cavalier baseball team swept a double-header on opening day. In the first game, the Cavs topped Lehigh 5-1. Jacob Thompson pitched five strong innings for the Cavaliers. He allowed just one earned run and struck out six batters. Matt Packer closed out the final two innings for Virginia. Sophomore Ryan Smith added two key runs in a four-run fifth inning.

In the second game, The Cavs defeated Lehigh 4-1. Pat McAnaney pitched six scoreless innings. He gave up just two hits and struck out nine. The game was tied at one until the seventh inning. Tyler Cannon and David Adams drove in a run each to give the Cavs the two run lead.
The Cavs return to action Sunday at 11 a.m. for another double-header against Lehigh.
