The Virginia Women's Basketball team wrapped up its regular season Sunday with a thrilling double-overtime victory over Georgia Tech, 103-101. Monica Wright hit the game-winning shot with two seconds left to send the Cavs into the ACC Tournament with plenty of momentum.
After trailing by 15 points at halftime, the Cavaliers battled back and took their first lead, 80-78, with 1:17 left in regulation. The game went to overtime tied at 82. In the first overtime, Georgia Tech took a late lead, but Lyndra Littles hit two free throws with less than 10 seconds left to send the game to double overtime tied at 93. With the game tied at 101, Wright drove to the hoop, added a spin move, and put in the layup for the victory.
Wright (28 points) and Lyndra Littles (31 points) both set career-highs in the win. Virginia (22-8, 10-4 ACC) won 10 ACC games for the first time since the 1999-2000 season. Virginia improved to 32-0 all-time when scoring 100 points.
The Cavs head to the ACC Tournament in Greensboro as the No. 4 seed and will play on Friday at 11 a.m.
