The Cavalier men's basketball team finished up a busy stretch of three games in just five days on Wednesday night when they hosted Duke. The #6 Blue Devils proved to be too much as they defeated Virginia 86-70. There were 11 lead changes in the first half. The Cavs had a four point lead with a little more than eight minutes to play before halftime. But the Blue Devils switched to a zone defense and went on a 19-5 run to end the half. Duke lead 43 to 31 heading into the locker room.
The Cavs could never catch up in the second half. They closed the margin to nine points, but that's as close at they would get.
Duke had five players in double figures. Sean Singletary led the Cavaliers with 18 points, and Calvin Baker followed close behind with 16 points. The Cavaliers fall to 14-14 overall and 4-11 in conference play. The Hoos finish the regular season on Sunday when they host Maryland at 7:30 p.m.
