For the third consecutive season, the Cavalier men's basketball team will take part in the postseason. Virginia has earned the number one seed in the College Basketball Invitational's East Region, and will host Richmond Tuesday night at 7:00.
The Wahoos enter at 15-15, and are coming off a 94-76 loss to Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament. It marked the Cavaliers' first conference tournament first round loss since 1999. They will host a Spiders squad that enters at 16-14, and was 9-7 in the Atlantic 10 this season.
Virginia takes the floor for the postseason for the third straight year. In 2006, the Cavaliers earned an NIT berth, where they fell in the first round to Stanford. Last season, they put together their finest season under head coach Dave Leitao, finishing 21-11, and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
With a win Tuesday, Virginia will host another CBI match up against the winner of Old Dominion and Rider.
