Jacob Thompson pitched six strong innings, giving up just two runs on four hits, while striking out seven, as the Cavalier baseball team topped Boston College, 7-3, in game one of a three game weekend series. The Cavaliers improve to 17-4, 3-4 in the ACC.

Thompson improves to 3-0 with the victory, and recovers from the worst start of his career at Duke last Friday. The win is also the 24th of his career, good enough for a school record. After giving up a run in each of the first two innings, Thompson settled down to keep the Eagles at bay.

The Virginia offense came alive in the fourth. Down, 2-0, the Cavaliers rallied for six runs, including a solo home run by Jeremy Farrell. David Adams also added a three run double in the game changing fourth.

Game two of the series will be tomorrow afternoon at 1:00. Click on the above video link for highlights of tonight's game.
