Carroll Lifts No. 2 Virginia Past No. 6 Johns Hopkins in OT, 13-12

March 22, 2008

Brian Carroll's goal with 7.7 seconds left in overtime lifted the No. 2 Cavaliers past No. 6 Johns Hopkins on Saturday. The Cavaliers improve to 9-0 on the season, the longest active winning streak in the NCAA.

7,579 fans were on hand to see the overtime-thriller, setting a Klockner Stadium record.

Ben Rubeor and Shamel Bratton led the Cavaliers with three goals each. Rubeor sent the game into overtime, tying the game at 12 with 56.3 seconds remaining in regulation.

With No. 1 Duke's loss to Georgetown earlier in the day, it expected that Virginia will vault into the top spot in the nation's polls.
