Greg Miclat's perfectly placed safety squeeze bunt in the eighth scored Patrick Wingfield, and that proved to be the winning run, as the Virginia baseball team topped Towson, 9-8. The win improves the Cavaliers' record to 24-5, as they have won ten of eleven on their current 12 game homestand.
After scoring four runs in the bottom of the first, the Wahoos surrendered six in the top of the second to fall behind 6-4. Virginia posted two in the fourth and one in the fifth to take the 7-6 lead, and led 8-6 heading into the eighth. Towson posted two runs in the eighth inning, and Miclat's bunt came in the bottom half of the inning, giving the Cavs the victory.
Virginia and the Tigers finish up their short two game set tomorrow night at 5:00. The Cavaliers return to ACC play at Florida State this weekend, beginning Friday.
