Mark Sobolewski hit a home run and drove in six RBI to help top ranked Miami down the Virginia baseball team, 10-0, in today's series finale. The win gives the Hurricanes a three game sweep of the Cavaliers, and sends the Cavs to their fourth straight loss.
Miami used a four run fifth inning to cruise to victory today. After two one run games to open up the series, the Hurricanes exploded for ten runs on 16 hits in the series finale. Virginia, meanwhile, could only manage six hits, two of which came off the bat of David Coleman, who went 2-4 on the day.
Friday's series opener saw Pat McAnaney pitch a complete game for Virginia, giving up only one run, but the Cavalier bats could not get going, as they fell to Miami, 1-0. Saturday's game needed ten innings to decide, with Miami winning, 4-3.
Virginia falls to 32-15 overall, 13-11 in the ACC. The Wahoos return home to face Mt. St. Mary's on Tuesday at Davenport Field, before a ten day hiatus. The Cavaliers' next ACC series will be at home against North Carolina from May 9-11.
