Former Cavalier offensive guard Ian-Yates Cunningham signed an undrafted rookie free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. He is the fourth Virginia player to sign as a rookie free agent since this past weekend's NFL Draft.
Cunningham started 31 games for Virginia during his career. He asserted himself as a lineman with speed who is an effective blocker. He will look to join former teammate Branden Albert on the Chiefs' offensive line.
Three other Cavaliers signed as undrafted free agents yesterday. Linebacker Jermaine Dias went to the Browns, safety Nate Lyles signed with the Jets, and tight end Jonathan Stupar will get his shot at the Patriots. Kicker Chris Gould will get a try out with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Thursday, but has not signed on with the squad.
