The Albemarle boys soccer team had several chances to score against North Stafford on Friday night, but good goalkeeping combined with a little bit of bad luck kept them out of the net, as the Wolverines grabbed the 1-0 victory.
North Stafford scored the lone goal in the first half of play, and fended off a pesky Patriots squad in the second. Halfway through the second frame, Steven Bargh had a man by the goal, but Wolverine keeper Frank Barile made a diving play to break up the pass. A short time later, Lucas Tyler found Brian Natale by the net, but the shot went just wide.
Patriots goalie Marcus Rondeau had a solid game, especially down the stretch, fending off several Wolverine shots that would have put the game out of reach. The Patriot offense, however, failed to find the back of the net. Click on the above video link for highlights.
