The Boyd Tinsley Tennis Tournament is down to its final four competitors, as the quarterfinals took place on Friday at the Boar's Head Sports Club. At the end of the day, two Americans were left standings, and will take the court in semifinal action on Saturday.
American Alexis Gordon advanced when Alexandra Podkolzina retired because of an injury. She'll move on to face Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium, who comes in as the third seed in the tournament. Wickenmayer topped Samantha Stosur in straight sets.
The other semifinal finds American Bethanie Mattek facing Russian Olga Puchkova. The fourth seeded Mattek topped Kimberly Couts in straight sets, while Puchkova beat Anna Tatishvili of Georgia. This will be the second semifinal tomorrow.
The singles semifinals will get underway on Saturday morning at 10:00, with doubles immediately following.
