Denny Hamlin clocked 21.39 as his fastest lap during qualifying for the Dan Lowry 400, earning the pole for Saturday's race. He will start on the inside, looking for his first win at this event.
The Chesterfield native has performed well during his first two attempts at a checkered flag at this race. In 2006, Hamlin's rookie year, he finished second behind Dale Earnhardt Jr. Last season, he came from behind to grab a third place finish, topped by only Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch. Hamlin won in Martinsville earlier this season, and will look to grab a win at the other Virginia track on Saturday.
As for Friday's qualifying, Mark Martin clocked the second-fastest lap at 21.42, with Martin Truex Jr. in third at 21.46. Tomorrow's race can be seen on WAHU FOX27, beginning at 7:00/
