Cavs Top VMI in Eleven Innings

May 13, 2008

Greg Miclat went 3-for-4 from the plate and knocked in three RBI, as the Cavalier baseball team topped VMI, 6-5, in eleven innings. Virginia improves to 35-17 with the win over its in-state foes, and now looks ahead to a three game series with Georgia Tech to close out the season.

The Cavaliers needed a run in the eighth and a run in the ninth to send the game to extra innings. Tied at five in the bottom of the eleventh, a throwing error allowed Corey Hunt to score from second, giving Virginia the one run win.

The Wahoos now prepare for the Yellow Jackets, who visit Davenport Field for a three game series beginning on Thursday. First pitch for game one is set for 6:00. The winner of this series will earn the fifth seed for next week's ACC Tournament.
