The Virginia baseball team welcomes in conference foe Georgia Tech for a three game series, closing out its regular season schedule. Both teams enter with identical 14-13 ACC records, and the winner of the series with clinch the fifth seed for next week's conference tournament in Jacksonville.
Georgia Tech enters with a 36-16 overall record, and is red hot. The Yellow Jackets have won nine of their last 12 games, but fell to Georgia on Tuesday night, 3-2. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, are 35-17, and have won two in a row. Virginia topped VMI in eleven innings, 6-5, on Tuesday.
Last season, Virginia and Georgia Tech split a two game rain-shortened series at Davenport Field. David Adams hammered a walk-off home run to give the Cavaliers a win in game two. Virginia also topped the Yellow Jackets in its second ACC Tournament game in 2007.
Game one of this series is set for Thursday night at 6:00, with a 6:00 start time for Friday as well. Saturday's series finale has been moved to noon, after originally being scheduled to begin at 1:00pm.
