Virginia outlasted North Carolina 8-7 in 11 innings. The game that began on Wednesday evening did not end until well after 1AM. David Adams' RBI single in the top of the 11th was the eventual game winner.

Virginia scored 2 runs in the top of the 9th inning to take a 5-4 lead, but North Carolina followed that with the game tying run in the bottom half to send the game to extra innings. Both teams scored a run in the 10th inning. The Cavaliers scored two runs in the 11th, which proved to be vital insurance runs. North Carolina threatened in the bottom half of the inning, scoring a run, but Virginia was able to hold off the Tar Heels 8-7.
