Devvarman Tops Shields to Set NCAA Record

Cavalier senior Somdev Devvarman topped Clancy Shields of Boise State, 6-4, 7-5, in second round action of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, punching his ticket to the round of 16. With the win, Devvarman sets the NCAA record for most wins in an NCAA Tournament with 14 in his career.

Devvarman had a busy day in Tulsa on Thursday, as he paired with Treat Huey to top Alabama, 7-6, 6-3, in the first round of doubles action. They advance to the second round. The two Cavaliers seniors are the number one seed in the doubles tournament.

Action continues on Friday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
