The Miami Hurricanes ended Virginia's bid for an ACC Championship this afternoon, defeating the Cavaliers 8-4 in the title game.
Miami jumped all over Virginia's Pat McAnaney in the top of the 1st, scoring four runs before the Cavs even got a chance to bat. The Canes then put up three more runs in the top of the 3rd, building a lead which they would not relinquish.
The Cavaliers got a few runs back in the bottom of the 6th. David Coleman, David Adams, Dan Grovatt and Phil Gosselin each drove in one run apiece, and Virginia was able to cut the lead to 7-4. But Miami pitching would hold the Cavaliers offense at bay for the rest of the game.
Coleman was one of two unanimous selections to the All-Tournament team.
