Cavalier senior Somdev Devvarman won his second straight NCAA Tennis Singles Championship on Monday, topping J.P Smith of Tennessee, 6-3, 6-2. It took the defending champ just over an hour to knock off Smith in straight sets, capping off his collegiate career in grand fashion.

After a close first set early on, Devvarman jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second set, and made quick work of Smith, who was the first unseeded player to reach the final since 2001. With the victory, Devvarman ends his season with a 44-1 singles record, and on a 36 match winning streak, both school records. The 44 wins ties the record he set last season. He also has 18 career NCAA Tournament wins, which is an NCAA record.

With his victory, Devvarman becomes just the 13th player to win back-to-back national championships, and just the fourth to accomplish the feat in the last 50 years. The Virginia senior is also just the third player in history to win both the ITA indoor title and the NCAA outdoor title in the same season.
