Charlottesville Girls Soccer Advances to Regional Semifinals

Liza Little scored 30 seconds into the game, as the Charlottesville girls soccer team blanked Briar Woods, 2-0, in Monday's Region II quarterfinals. With the victory, the Black Knights advance to the regional semifinals at Brentsville on Wednesday.

Emily Perrin scored the other goal for Charlottesville, who is now one win away from earning berth in the state playoffs. Clay Eure held the Falcons off the scoreboard.

In other high school action, the Albemarle baseball team kept its season alive with a 12-10 win over Halifax in the Northwest Region championship. The Patriots advance to the semifinals, where they will earn a bid to states with a victory.
