Cavalier women's head coach Debbie Ryan is back in Charlottesville, after spending this past weekend in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the 2008 Women's Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Ryan was one of six members of the Class of 2008, which is the tenth group to be inducted into the hall.
Ryan has spent the last 31 seasons at Virginia, and has led the Cavaliers to the NCAA Tournament in 22 of those seasons, which include three final four appearances. She is one of seven NCAA women's coaches to reach the 600 win milestone.
CBS19 caught up with the new Hall of Famer, and got her thoughts on her latest honor. As always, Ryan was very humble, saying that there are so many other people that are deserving of the recognition that she has received. She is also very thankful to all the people who made the trip to Knoxville to support her, which include Connecticut head coach Geno Auriemma and former Cavalier great Dawn Staley.
Ryan also says that she has many seasons ahead of her, and a lot of games left to coach. The veteran coach was very quick to point out that she has enjoyed every moment of her time at UVa.
