Just hours after locking in an invite to the Music City Bowl, one of UVA's football players has been arrested. Less than a month after suspending four players for team violations, another one of those players is again in hot water, but this time with Albemarle County Police.
Less than a month until the Hoos lace them up against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, they are dealing with more controversy. Third year starting cornerback Tony Franklin was charged and served a summons last night just before 9 p.m. at an Eagle's Landing Apartment.
Albemarle County Police say they got the call for a loud noise complaint. In the process of dealing with that complaint, they discovered Franklin in possession of marijuana. He was charged with a misdemeanor crime.
Less than a month ago, the third year team captain was suspended along with three other players for their game against Georgia Tech for unspecified team violations.
A UVA spokesperson said that at this time, they have no comment about Franklin's arrest, and no date has been set for his next court appearance.
